Fact is, they DO ... 7 to 10 years is somewhat assured, but if the "passivation layer" which prevents the metal coating from being exposed to "air" then all bets are off. Only matters how good the PAINT coat is as to how it lasts ...ADVICE: *IF* you have DVD's you value, MAKE DUBS! OR get spares. KEEP them dark ... if they REALLY MATTER to you, *hermetically* seal them in notrogen cask or helium. And ONLY open them to make a dub and seal them RIGHT back! It's ALL about not letting air leak into the passivation layer. MAKE DUBS! |
