I don't know if good news from the hood is bad ratings. I think the "if it bleeds it leads" philosophy doesn't discriminate according to neighborhood. But you are right, the media could focus on more positive news. However, usually the "good news' is relegated to feature segments such as "visiones" rather than broadcast when most of the viewers are watching at 6PM. And the national news reserves its "good news" to one minute at the end of the program in segments such as "Person of the Week." |
