This business of 'New York supported three teams for decades' is a myth No, it's not. From 1901 to 1957 this city supported 3 major league baseball teams to varying degrees of success. Your points are valid, and the feasibility of keeping 3 ML teams beyond 1960 was not good, but the fact remains that until O'Malley came to him with the idea of relocating to San Francisco, Stoneman was NOT considering a specific move anywhere else. |
