However, there are people who live in Jackson Heights and Forest Hills who commute to Brooklyn. Yes the V is local and a little longer but it is still an alternative which, if advertised correctly, would increase ridership.

The way commuters are, they believe an express is an express. Someone at Roosevelt Avenue/Jackson Heights who is commuting to Midtown Manhattan will let a V go and wait for the F train. They don't realize that their commute would be just the same amount of time (if not more) if the F does not arrive less than 10 minutes after the V has left Jackson Heights.

Plus, if the V is extended to Brooklyn, it would increase ridership even more. The fact that the V does not go into Brooklyn hurts the line. People won't use it since it doesn't advance south of Second Avenue.
