Those Bombardier cab cars haven't got shit for "deflecting or destroying" vehicles at grade crossing accidents. That's why yesterday's accident, and two others, resulted in cab cars leaving the rails after encountering something at a grade crossing, whatever they hit went under the car, lifted it enough to derail. (Metrolink also had two major crossing accidents involving large trucks with huge loads on trailers....both were engine-first trains. Neither derailed, even though the locomotive carbodies sustained moderate to heavy damage. And nobody was killed in either incident.

Basically, all that's there is a piece of metal to hold Metrolink's lousy horns in place. The big Airchime K5LA's on the cab car roofs are just hood ornaments -- the real, working horn is a nasty sounding Nathan P-series two-chime mounted in the piece of metal they call a pilot. Most of them sound like a strangled goose. The last orderof cab cars came without the roof horns and have a screeching Leslie horn under there.
