According to the latest DCE car assignment matrix, Coney Island has just 12 R-32s assigned to it's fleet. This is because they now have 70 R-160s assigned to them and Jamaica needs R-32s to supliment since theirs are going through SMS. There are three possible explainations for what you saw:1) It is possible that at the time you saw the 2 B trains, the transfer had not yet been physically completed OR 2) it is equally possible that Coney Island was down 1 train that AM and 'borrowed' a train from Jamaica. OR 3) RTO had a gap in service and swapped an R-32 F train into B service for a trip or so. Any of the above is possible. |
