Quite plausible, the center band doesn't appear to be painted.The SI R-44s (MUE-2s) had their steel bands replaced with stainless steel during the 1990 GOH. The NYCT R-44s kept their steel bands and were primed and painted. One NYCT R-44 had its steel band replaced with stainless steel. Bill "Newkirk" |
