I don't think it would have mattered - they lost the walk-in traffic generated by the El - when the subway moved to Archer Ave people got on their buses there to continue their rides home and did not go out of their way to visit the stores. I think the stores underestimated the amount of incidental traffic they had as opposed to customers actively seeking them out. As long as they were convenient - people shopped there - when people had to walk out of their way they simply stopped shopping there instead.... |
