In an old court decision a judge commented that (to paraphrase) it is a fact of life that enough cases are decided wrongly by judges and juries that a plaintiff who thinks he is entitled to more will settle for less and a defendant will settle and pay more than he feels he should. Pity the truly innocent person who passes on a plea bargain, is wrongly convicted and goes to jail...or worse.Anyway, I've been proven wrong enough times when I believed I was right that now, even when I think I am right I know I may be wrong. |
