I told them I’d like to record their badge numbers (on my camera, since I had no paper; I told them I’d cover the lens if they wanted) and recorded numbers, then proceded to walk out to the shuttle buses. As I was leaving, one of the same cops from before came up, told me to wait, then handcuffed me and ordered me to sit on a bench. Her partner followed and stood nearby while she took the camera away and out of sight.

It appears that asking for their badge numbers ticked them off - up to that point you could have walked away unscathed. Carry a pen and paper and try to remember the badge numbers till you can write them down. I know its legal to ask for badge numbers but this method avoids some of the immediate confrontation. Then you can file complaints with the ACLU and the CCRB...

The ACLU is quite interested in cases of photographer harassment - don't let this drop.
