I've had two reversers get "eaten" by CI42's, I couldn't get them out of the controller. The first time, I had a layup to Stillwell Yard and called for an RCI. He had to take apart the controller and hit the reverser out with a hammer and screwdriver. Took about 10 minutes. Second time, I was on the W. Arived at Astoria, couldn't get it out, RCI couldn't get it out either. Had to abandon the reverser and leave it in the controller, Dispatcher gave me a new one.If I had to work CI42's on a steady basis, I'd need one more piece of equipment: a steel file. |
