John, you think that way because you've never seen a real monorail. The Tokyo monorail has served Tokyo CBT - Haneda Airport for more than 40 years without a major problem. It's probably easier to maintain than the Roosevelt Island Tram.There are three other commuter monorails in the greater Tokyo area and they all work well, especially the ones that run in hilly areas where conventional rail would be difficult if not impossible. I'll take a monorail anytime if I can avoid riding the M15 and M34. |
