I agree with your points on Staten Island. If the borough had developed at a slightly faster rate, we would've seen another subway/rail line courtesy of the BMT, IRT or IND but they had no reason to. The North Shore and South Shore branches were built ahead of their time and had B&O RR roughed it out and kept the lines for 12 more years, we wouldn't be asking for the re-opening of the line now.All the development didn't come until after Robert Moses had the SI Expressway and Verrazono Bridge completed in 1964. You can actually thank him for any development the borough gained afterwards. |
