Yep, French designed, Spanish-built locomotives hauling German coaches alongside Danish/Swedish MUs. If Amtrak had the smarts to buy those Flexliner DMUs you'd have yet another connection between US and Israeli foreign built equipment, and Amtrak (as well as Commuter lines around the country) would have excellent FRA-compatible DMUs. For what its worth the Flexliner that we tested wound up going to Israel. I guess there actually is a developed country in worse shape than the US when it comes to indigenous rolling stock manufacturing and passenger operation. Course since they're something like the size of New Jersey they can rectify the latter shortcoming with minimal investment relative to what we have to do to make an appreciable difference.

As an aside I believe another of our early 1990s ABB test units, the X2000 that ran on the NEC in 1994 (IIRC) wound up going to KCRC in China.
