I rode the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem line. As Terrapin Station posted, there is no longer direct service Sunday-Thursday, and a timed transfer is required in the peak direction. The off-peak direction layover is between 40 to 60 minutes. Luckily, I rode it on a Friday, although it was pretty empty.

There is some information in English, especially if you can find someone's blog about their trip to Israel. Also, Israel Railways has an English version of its site.

HSR is due to open in 2011. Although the current Tel Aviv-Jerusalem line is very scenic, it is not a very viable travel option if you are trying to get to Jerusalem quickly. It will also create a line from Ben Gurion Airport to Jerusalem, which will be good since there has not been direct bus service from the airport to Jerusalem since the new terminal opened a few years ago.
