There was a Tottenham Court Road picture in there somewhere. I think the walk from Russell Square to the BM is better than the walk from TCR—you get to enjoy a real lift (or walk up the 194 stairs!) and then pass through bits of the University of London, like Senate House, which is worthwhile taking a look at the outside. My preferred tactic from St Pancras (or King's Cross, or Euston) is: 1) Cross the Euston Road 2) Catch the 10, 73, or 390 westbound 3) Get off on Bloomsbury Street 4) Walk around the corner into Great Russell Street But then again, I'm lazy. (And it doesn't work as well north/eastbound.) But then I’m biased: my hall of residence was in Tavistock Square, just round the corner, and I studied for a while in the Computer Science Department of Birkbeck College, which is in the North Wing of Senate House. My usual targets are the BM and the Institute of Classical Studies Library (certainly worth the Hellenic Society's annual sub, if you can find where it's moved to this week). |
