That would be with the Ammurrican accent! Shorter o, and the end probably uh, rather than long errrr.

Awf coss, one could keep the long "aw", so long as one went to Awksford.

But seriously, in the 19th Century railway timetables included placename abbreviations like:

Glo'ster (Eastgate)
Le'ster (London Rd)

These were primarily to fit into columns, but Glo'ster and Le'ster (and for that matter the unattested *Wo[o]'ster, *Al'ster, and *Bi'ster) do actually indicate the pronunciation quite well.

For the next stage in our spelling reform, Plaistow can become Plaaaaaaaa'stow, and Dulwich and Woolwich can become Dul'ich and Wool'ich.
