Don’t forget that you are now bridging a whole track, say about 10'. The bridge strength (and therefore weight) needs to be increased correspondingly.However, I think that you could arrange for a hinged plate, with a pulley system to lower it to a suitable train door. I can’t comment about Metro North. It takes NJ Transit about 45 minutes to set 6 fixed bridges for weekend work. And it takes a small track-running mobile crane. |
