Also, AC propulsion is often frequency controlled. That is, the frequency of the input voltage determines the rotational speed of an AC induction motor. If two axles are driven by the same VVVF AC controller, they will be electrically geared together.The rotational speed of DC motors with commutation is controlled by input voltage to the stator and rotor coils. Commutation allows a wide range of balancing speeds under a wide range of loads with the same electrical input. |
