The LION wants to build the MYRTLE-FIFTH AVENUE SUBWAY, which would make the (M) train a moot point anyway. Probably just make it a shuttle like the Franike, with a transfer to the new subway somewhere along Myrtle.It will follow the old Myrtle routing to downtown Brooklyn, then through then new Orange-Pineapple tunnel (Next to the Cranberry tunnel of course) with stops at Wall and WTC. Actually, the Myrtle-5th will use the four track Orange Street tunnel, while a new 9th Avenue subway will use the new two track Pineapple Street tunnel connecting with (and usurping) the Fulton Street local tracks to Cross Bay Blvd. (8th Avenue Trains will then only use the Express tracks on Fulton Street) The Pineapple-9th will join the IND west of Hoyt-Schermerhorn on the existing Clark Street tracks, but east of the Clark Street station which remains a museum. |
