But if that were such an important factor, you could not have overhead wires anywhere underground, and yet you do (Penn Station, 30th Street-Philadelphia, Stt. Louis Metrolink, Philly Subway-Surface Cars, Boston Green Line.And Miami Metrorail is all above ground. So is the Norristown High Speed Line. So ground losses are independent of underground right? Meaning a third-rail system does have some efficiency advantages... |
