I caught it last week.Looks like the new South Ferry branch will be a grade crossing off the current. So much for any thoughts of using both branches in regular service. It was nice that the C/R could direct passengers to the front of the train at South Ferry itself, not just at Chambers and Rector. I rode back uptown at the C/R's position. A bunch of high school kids got on (at 14, I think it was) and were surprised at the lack of a transverse cab. And the C/R had to ask a man to step aside so she could open the door, complaining that it was an old train borrowed from the 7; he responded that he remembered the old trains with wicker seats. |
