When I attended E.R. Murrow High School in the mid 70's, the M and the QB were mainly R-27/30's and a few R-42's.As I said in the other post, yes, our mainstay was the R27-30's, some R16's, and the occasional R40-42, but by the 80's, we definitely had the R32's and occasional R38's thrown in too. I remember it clearly. I think since the M mingled at Coney Island, they just threw anything on it that operated out of Coney Island. The M didn't lose it's Coney Island status until the Manhattan Bridge project that threw it off the Brighton and onto the West End. That's when the M lost a lot of it's color. It even lost the R40-42's then! It went to straight R27-30, and later, straight R16 for a half a year or so, truly the barrel's bottom at that time, until the red R30's began to arrive (long after the J got them), and later still when the GOHed R42's and R40 Slants began to come around 1989 or so. |
