The Canarsie connection was a backtrack but a freight train coming from the LIRR could have run right onto the track. I'm surprised it never happened because there was so much vandalism along the freight line. I guess they locked the switches up pretty good. I lived near the long-gone LIRR-SBK junction at 20th Avenue. Kids were always hanging out down the tracks and we figured one day some punk would tamper with the switches sending a freight train roaring out onto McDonald Avenue. Never happened although I'm sure some of the local morons tried their best.

N2 pulling/pushing redbirds to L.A. Union Station. Passing through other cities transit systems along the way. The Mother of All FanTrips! I'd prefer R46s myself.
