Do the RW cars use traction motors?

Standard RDCs use a drive shaft and gearbox, to transfer power from the diesels to the inboard axle on each truck. The shaft connects to the engine crank through a torque converter, like the automatic transmission on a car.

In addition to the differences Dutch pointed out, the Roger Williams cars had a lower roofline, which is evident when you see one of these cars coupled to a conventional RDC. They also used a single piece car side, as opposed to the more conventional siding on the RDC, which is evident in the two pictures above.

With all these changes, it wouldn't surprise me if they did go to an electric transmission, as opposed to the RDC's hydraulic, but I've never seen that mentioned anywhere.
