Interesting..we have several odd street names/pronunciations up here:We have the standard Houston/Howston We have a Fulton St We have a Courtland..without the 't' (should THAT be pronounced?) We have a 'Low'..which is not pronounced like the opposite of 'high' - Low as in 'cow' We have both a Prospect Ave and a Prospect St...which, of course, are at opposite ends of town We have two Main Sts - a West and East Main with separate numbering schemes...we also have a North St and South St...even an East Ave...but no West Ave.... and we have what has to be the only 'Groo St' in the country....(pronounced 'grew') |
