At the time the Dutch owned Manhattan, it probably was pronounced like Vahn-Week - approximately.

Interesting - and what would the authentic Dutch pronunciations be for these stations:

Nassau Av (G)
New Utrecht Av (N)
Spuyten Duyvil (MNRR)
