Growing up in Greenpoint, I had the option of the taking R16's on the LL or R10's on the GG. Some choice! I actually preferred the GG with the 10's because if nothing else they moved a hell of lot faster (and as much noise as they made, you KNEW you were moving). As a bonus you had the super wide headlights and the conductor hanging between the cars to open the doors on the 10's! Sure they were trashed, but no worse than say the cars on the west side IRT. |
