While a bit off the initial topic (but still SI LRT related), what is there stopping the installation of LRT from SI Mall to Saint George? The aim is to get people off express buses and to the ferry. (Part of the ROW to be used would be where expressways in central SI were cancelled---and could perhaps be built as a tie-in to HBLR (once 21st Century is off the project) and North Shore LRT, to appease those who complain about lack of transport on SI, of which there is a severe lack).If HBLR is tied in, perhaps NJ Transit should be hired as the contractor for this whole system. (Cars in HBLR and MTA livery would be shared.) |
