My commute from Riverdale-VCP area to downtown WTC is 32 minutes via Bway to Dyckman-HHP around the lunchtime crowds. Going home I can do it in 25 via the FDR-Willis Ave Bridge and the Deegan. Driving to Bedford Pk to pick up a Lexington Avenue train is 15 minutes plus parking time, and 47 minutes to Fulton St once I'm on the train and forget about the bus. HHP has been good to us here, the flooding occurs north of Farragut, the school bus last week didn't quite knock down the bridge at W256 and my bike parks where no man could park a car before. And cheaper too. At 45 MPG, no tolls and $7.50 per week in the tank I cut my trip time in half and no metrocard discounts come close. I'll take my chances on the parkway before I sit another day in traffic on the IRT. |
