Their P32AC/DMs (Genesis IIs, identical to MNCR P32s) use underrunning 3rd rail shoes since they run on the Hudson Line from the moment it hits MNRR property in the Bronx, and switches to Diesel after the 3rd rail stops just north of Croton-Harmon Station in W'Chester.Incorrect. Amtrak P32AC/DM locomotives use retractable overrunning 3rd rail shoes for use within Penn Station and the the approach to the Empire Line. Once the train emerges from Penn, they are on Diesel power. They cannot use MNR 3rd rail. |
