Valley Stream only has one condo near the train station. The rest of the residences in the area are mostly single family homes. By Gibson, there's an apartment building, but again, mostly single family homes. Lynbrook, I'll give you some credit for, since there's a whole cluster along Penninsula Avenue*. I've seen two new condos go up in Westbury along with the living assisted building next to the tracks. That's in addition to a few other buildings along Maple Avenue.IIRC, I don't remember any apartments near the Garden City station... As for the others, I'm not too familiar with them, but still, one should admit that from your list, it's a small number than have some sort of apartment complex near by. When I was on the Harlem Line a few days ago, it seemed that a majority of the stations had some type of apartment/condo complex of a reasonable size near the station. It's also interesting to note that of your examples listed above, all but three (Great Neck, Westbury, Mineola) are located in the Town of Hempstead. I guess I need to actually bother doing a railfan trip on the LIRR soon. :) La Grande Anse |
