The M1s are in shitty shape because the LIRR maitenance (sic) forces suck. Look at the PATCO cars, they're the same age with very similar propulsion and braking systems, and yet they're in much better shape. The PATCO maitenance crews may have a smaller fleet, but they do a much better job repairing their cars and consequently their cars are in nearly brand new shape.

You just put yer foot in your mouth again.
  • Comparing apples and oranges—fleet size and utilization (huge difference between LIRR and PATCO thereof), FRA vs. FTA, not to mention comparing little PATCO to the largest and busiest commuter RR in the USA. When we see PATCO trains with 14 cars and thousands of passengers on board running daily, then talk.

  • Probably got LIRR maintenance people on here, and you just insulted them without knowing what you're talking about, and for no reason whatsoever.

  • So, based on this line of thinking, because the Silverliner IIs are still around (the M1 showing up a few years later), that makes SEPTA's maintenance people champs by comparison?
