The M1s are in shitty shape because the LIRR maitenance forces suck. Look at the PATCO cars, they're the same age with very similar propulsion and braking systems, and yet they're in much better shape. The PATCO maitenance crews may have a smaller fleet, but they do a much better job repairing their cars and consequently their cars are in nearly brand new shape. |
