I don't have their lives in my hands, just their retirement annuities.Fortunately, most of the time when we have to fix someone else's mistake, it's to tell the annuitant they're getting more money than they were expecting, or sometimes even to tell them that they are getting money they weren't expecting. Somehow it's rare that a company accidentally told someone too high a figure and now we have to go and reduce it on them. Though there was the one poor shlemiel who got into an argument with his boss and quit 1 month before his 55th birthday, not realizing that the very heavily subsidized early retirement only applied to people still at work on their 55th birthday. |
