That is a misconception which has taken root in RTO and spreadto other departments, and it is now impossible to convince people of the correct meaning of the acronym. Basically, some unknown ignorant person put that wrong definition in a training manual 20 or 30 years ago, and because it sounded plausible, it got copied over and over again until it became TA "gospel". Ask people who worked for the TA in the 50s or 60s and they'll know the correct answer, as would anyone who is knowledgable of air brake systems. |
