WHile no one can defend what congressional Republicans did to protect DeLay, a little perspective is needed. The rule which would have tossed DeLay had he been indicted was a self imposed rule instituted by Republicans in 1994, being part of Newt Gingrich's "Contract With America". No such rule ever existed when the Democrats were in control. |
