The Atlantic Branch is not redundant by any means. You would have to funnel traffic from the Babylon, Long Beach and Far Rockaway Lines (and a bit of West Hempstead) into two tracks into Jamaica. Those lines are just too busy. The switching necessary at Valley alone would be a nightmare. |
