In the 1960's until Chrystie, the #14 local was pretty much a crap shoot of 5 and 5 car R16's or Standards.

hile officially called JJ when the QJ began, that Standards held it down like that for about 6 more months until the R-9's invaded in the Spring of 68. I reverse commuted that school year between Woodhaven Blvd and 121 St. I often caught a Bway Bklyn local toward Jamaica around 7:50am, saw a Long Island City-bound Oyster Bay train with P54's around 8:10am, and got an 8 car R27 QJ around 3pm.
