Right..The LIRR's new East Side Terminal from the 63rd street tunnel was suppose to be located at 48th and 3rd avenue. To connect this station with the rest of the system..a subway was proposed along 48th st...to link up with the planned Second Avenue subway..and transfers with the Flushing and Lexington avenue.. Of course those plans were deffered..Now the LIRR will run into Grand Central Terminal...WITH out direct connections to the SAS..and no 48th street subway. |
