They're saying that with the "posioning" of the air, water, and food, a lot of people will be autistic in the future.Except that the mercury theory of autism is not generally believed by most people with qualifications in either psychiatry or psychology. That is not to say it isn't true; it just isn't the mainstream academic consensus right now. But mainstream academia has been wrong before. The current theory of autism revolves around a gene-environmental interaction model, with most of the weight on a genetic theory because autism is fairly highly heritable. As Ron said, it is likely a multi-gene, and multi-factorial phenomenon. AEM7AC |
