She behaves and speaks normally and then all of a sudden she'll go into screaming and yelling fits and its very sad.Classic autism behaviour pattern. What is happening is that the child is unable to express in words what she is feeling or thinking, and is becoming frustrated, so she is yelling and screaming like a little baby. The good thing about it is that this can be worked on by intensive intervention, essentially giving negative reinforcers for yelling type behaviour and positive reinforcers when she calms down and figures out how to communicate what she wants. The problem is that the need for reinforcement is constant and if someone drops the ball just for a few months, the child easily regresses. I mean to say google for more info about "stimming" in the earlier post, but forgot. So here it is. AEM7AC |
