For years the Identra loop set the switch after the train had left QBP and approached the switch, and there was no punch at QBP. If the loop wasn't set correctly or was broken or missing (more and more, as time went by), the train leaving QBP had to stop at the switch so the t/o could punch at the switch, creating an additional stop which should not have been necessary. During the last major reconstructions of the QB viaduct, when all service ran local only in both directions for years and during which the switch was permanently set, the Identra system was removed and the punch at QBP was installed, so after the reconstruction, during the station stop, the t/o would punch for the correct lineup ahead without then having to stop at the switch. It was a great improvement. Of course we're not talking about the switch to the BMT just after QBP, but the one further east, over the railyards, towards the right in this map, approaching 33 St:
