Lefferts Avenue was re-named Lefferts Boulevard sometime in the 1930's.

Signage was slow to change. The 1948 subway maps still lists it as Lefferts Avenue.


Actually it was changed in 1917 as reported on May 3 in the Daily Long Island Farmer (which later merged with the Long Island Daily Press). It wasn't changed on TA maps until well after the IND was extended to Lefferts Blvd in 1956 as the map of that year still showed Avenue. The Salomon maps of 1958-1967 only listed Lefferts without a street designation. Lefferts Blvd first appeared on a TA map with Chrystie Street in November 1967.
