That’s not a subsidy, that’s a negative externality. If we priced that correctly, people would complain about taxes.The major problem with that is when something is proposed to charge for the negative externalities associated with the molecular waste*, we run up against climate change deniers and people who claim that humans are incapable of changing the climate. *we need a term that sounds as scary as “nuclear waste” when it comes to organic energy extraction, although coal power plants do release more dangerous radionuclides into the environment than a well-run nuclear power plant. |
