I've always wondered how the GG, usually a short and less frequent train back then, was able to handle the crowds along Smith St and the rest of the line to Church Ave. As is always pointed out whenever the topic of restoring express service comes up, those are the busiest stations on the line. They inconvenienced the majority of the riders to save a few minutes for the rest. And it doesn't really work to have express south of Church Ave because of the switching required. When my son went to Boody on Ave S, He always wanted to be dropped at 18th Ave rather than Ditmas because he said trains frequently bypassed Ditmas, running express in the light direction. The wouldn't been around 2010. I think they still do. You've got the frequency required for QBL and a very light load that just doesn't need them. They run with passengers but could just as easily run light. |
