Bill: Regarding the top picture of 1634A. Refer to James Grellers Book, Brooklyn Elevated Railroads, Page 173. He states that after the Flushing and Astoria were split cars 1615, 1680 and 1634A were sent to the IRT for testing a seven car train on the 3rd Avenue El. It was found that the BU trucks were two heavy for the older portion of the el .
So they were replaced with trucks from the Composite. I guess that they decided that a six car train of two Q-Type would be sufficient for service so 1634A went in to work service.
