A good reason for the missing balance on an OMNY card at the time of a tap, is that the individuals at the MTA who are deploying the Tap & Pay fare collection system will enter the system at no cost.

So if I happen to ride the transit system at no change, why would I then care to know about a monetary balance to my the MTA employee One Pass? Because there is none, and why it might not be on the MTA radar?
