Is regen on all lines? If it were used on every subway line, you'd think the tunnels wouldn't be so hot. It's a huge waste to throw away the energy of an 1/2 to 1 million pounds of moving train that starts and stops every couple of minutes.

The way regen works is there has to be another train in that electrical section of track to accept it. If there isn't, it seems that it should be possible for the decelerating train to give up its energy to the station it's approaching, which could be used for heating, cooling, air purifiers and restroom hand dryers.
