That's exactly how I felt back on September 23, 1967 as our n/b R-10 Abbott train crept past 23rd St. After being betrayed that morning by an Ethel train that stopped at 23rd, this was vindication. I saw I-beams on either side of our train and knew we weren't stopping.The subway was still new to me then. I didn't understand that in the grand scheme of IND routes, if a train ran express along any point of its route, it was clasified as an express. |
